Taking Aquaponics to the “Hard to Reach Places” in Uganda.

Water Governance Institute ( WGI) in partnership with Agency for Cooperation and Research in Development (ACORD) Uganda embarked on an Aquaponics awareness Journey to the foothills of Mountain Rwenzori in Kasese District. This journey though riddled with challenges managed to be successful and both inception and Aquaponics awareness meetings were held at both District, Sub-County and Community Levels. 

On Monday 14th, February 2022, the team conducted meetings and Awareness sessions for staff and community members at Kyarumba Sub-County in Kasese District. The morning session was held for staff and an afternoon session for the community members.

Tuesday 15th , February 2022 involved the team conducting meetings and Aquaponics Awareness sessions with staff at Muhokya Sub-Country.

There after the team headed to the Hard- to- reach Kirembe Parish to introduce the Aquaponics innovation to the community residents.

The innovation and project were well received by both the leaders and the community members. They pledged and promised to work hand in hand with Water Governance Institute and ACORD Uganda to ensure success of the project.
